Contemplation: Fuko The Elephant

In Nagano Chasuyama Zoo in Japan, there's an elephant who has spent 27 years in a tiny concrete cell. As if that weren't bad enough, for the past eleven of those years she's been alone.

Elephants are exceptionally social and highly intelligent. They live 60-70 years, have families, and even grieve their dead. Keeping one in solitary confinement is a form of torture. If you'd like to help Fuko, simply sign this petition.
